One of the programs that makes Le Roy Central School District unique is the Book Talk program.   Book Talks are designed to engage all interested teachers, staff, administrators, and BOE members in reflection, conversation, and inquiry about books that deal with teaching and learning.  Book Talks are held monthly either before or after school.   Books are purchased through the BOCES co-ser program and staff from all the BOCES districts are invited to attend.  Participants interested in joining in a talk must read the book and be prepared to add to the discussion.

Why Book Talks?

In order for an organization to grow, it must change.  School districts are no different.  Books Talks inspire readers to affect change.  In order to accomplish this, staff members must be educated and informed.  They must share common ideas and goals and be willing to act.  Book Talks promote common understanding and professional growth among the participants.

"...Collaborative schools fan the passion and emotions of the members because they so value commitment and the energy required to pursue complex goals.  But instead of leaving passionate teachers to sink or swim, the true value of collaborative cultures is that they simultaneously encourage passion and provide emotional support as people work through the rollercoaster of change."
